BACKGROUND

The thoughts on Senseful Retreat was indirectly established 10 years ago, where Kasper (Nina's husband) was in a silent retreat in India. The strong experience of becoming face to face with one's own body and mind, was really overwhelming.

The retreat was a life changing experience, but hosted in a very, very simple setting, both in terms of food and accommodation. This could be done better - Senseful Retreat came closer.

For both Kasper and I good food is an important content in life. We have experienced food-art from the best Michelin gourmet chefs all over the world, as well as have been touched deeply by the simplicity found in food prepared from simple, delicious local product around in the Mediterranean. Food has inspired and enriched our lives in a great way, and we perceive it as a great ingredient for our senses. Dining experience and love of good food should be absolutely essential cornerstone of Senseful Retreat.

As a Danish family with two kids and hectic careers, we were challenged by our daily life. Balancing our corporate life in creativity, communication and leadership with our hectic private life, and constantly being on the treadmill, required a change towards more balance and focus on what is really important. We decided to take our family out on an adventure, and base ourselves in the Barcelona area. The area's beautiful surroundings, the clear blue sky, the special Mediterranean light, and the warmth of the people and 300 days of sun blew us away.

We fell in love with the area, which simply called for doing things differently. Following our dreams. The beautiful surroundings made the final step for foundation of Senseful Retreat.

I look forward to be your host and welcome you to our very special experience.

Warm regards

Nina Langkilde
